The bottom end is built and ready to rumble but there has been a few slight changes along the way. π
What’s happening then?
You may of noticed I’ve recently sold my oil cooler setup along with the Moroso coolant tank, the reason behind this is I’m going Dry-sump.. yep you did read that right I’m going dry-sump.
So the whole oiling setup will change, I’ve gone for a Raceline Duratec dry-sump has it’s very compact and doesn’t have an external pump, there are pro’s and con’s to this but as I’m limited on space it made sense to go this route.
The plan is to run the scavenging outlet from the dry-sump to a inline oil Thermostat then to an AN -12 19ROW oil cooler, it will then go to the oil tank, from the oil tank will go back into the oil inlet on the dry-sump and then proceed through it’s normal route into the oil filter.
The oil tank will be kept in the engine bay to make things more simple and to not have 2 meter runs of oil lines to the oil tank in the boot.
This means the turbo oil return will need to go straight into the block, very similar to how the Fab9Tuning kit does it, straight into the head oil drain gallery on the side of the block.
Another little… well I say little it’s quite a big change, is to run a BMW GS6-37BZ gearbox, these gearboxes are know to taken some good power, they come from a Z4 3.0 or a E46 330i. The later gearboxes GS6-53BZ are even better but seem to be selling for quite a big price. π
The GS6-37BZ is the petrol version you also get the DZ version which comes from the diesels, a much cheaper gearbox but at a sacrifice of horrible gear ratios, unless you change the diff ratio to suit.
The setup will involve a adaptor plate / custom flywheel / custom twin clutch / custom prop shaft / gearbox & diff mountings, gear lever linkage, no doubt loads of little extra bits!
In hindsight I could of been up and running by now. πππ
Keep an eye for new update, It’s just the case of waiting for parts to turn up so I can piece this puzzle together.
Really.. I should just aim for less power! but once the boost bug bites!! you just want more. β
