As you may of seen or heard I’m fitting a BMW ZF 6 Speed gearbox to the NC to cope with the power I’m hoping to go for. *I’ll be doing a post about this once everything has been tested and working as I expect*
I’ve been waiting for a few bits to come in before I can give you guys some serious updates, but this weekend I should be spinning over the engine to build oil pressure!!!! 🤞🤞
I had to get some M12x1.00 socket caps made to my specifcations, which came in the other day.
As you may be aware M12x1.00 thread pitch is a right bastard to find off the shelf, you just cant!!
This will enable me to bolt up the flywheel and get the clutches in and the gearbox back into it’s home so I can spin the engine over.
During the mocking up I soon realized I needed a extremely short shifter linkage, as the engine sits quite far back in the engine bay coupled with the 20mm adaptor plate even though the BMW gearbox is shorter than the MX5 gearbox it ended up me needing a 94mm linkage.
I had a good hunt around and I was going to get a custom one made due to unable to find anything, but a quick email over to CAE Racing asking on the off chance if they do one, which oddly enough they do a 85-95mm adjustable shift rods which isn’t advertised on their website.
Perfect I thought! This will allow me to fine adjust how the gear shifter will sit.
I am posibly looking at producing a MX5 NC > BMW ZF 6 Speed kit how complete this kit will be I’m not 100% yet.

In other news I treated the car to a set of Innovative Engine Mounts! 🎈
I must say they are very nice and from what I’ve heard they are a good balance between uprated “ILM mounts” & the “AWR – I’m going to shake your world to bits mounts”
