When moving over to a standalone ECU you can find it takes a good amount of time to set up the alternator control within the ECU and you can find from setup to setup it can vary and is never as fast to react compared to a self-regulated alternator.
With this voltage regulator, it’s all built-in and takes 10-15mins to swap it out of your old alternator.
It uses the OEM 3 pin plug, only 2 of the wires are required as per OEM.
Pin 2 SENSE (Can be wired up to any 12v reference this is to tell the alternator how much it needs to load up to output the set voltage.)
Pin 3 LAMP (This needs to be wired to an Ignition source with the included warning lamp, you require an inline bulb as this is what excites the alternator plus is great for troubleshooting a bad alternator, we normally have this in the fusebox. Most standalone ECU’s will be able to manage low voltage warnings)
