Long overdue update but a lot has been happening in the back ground.
So.. what’s been going on?
Well.. Dan over @ DAN ST Engineering had 5 Duratec 2.5 that he imported over from the USA.
I was originally going to get a engine from Joe @ Dynotronics and fit it straight in but to save on cost and to hopefully future proof the car I’ve decided to rebuild a 2.5 and go forged, So off I went and collected one of these engines from Dan.
It looks like the engine had come off a Ford Transit and had the later VVT setup on it.
Overall the engine was very clean with only minor marks on the crank mains.
Bryan @ Fab9tuning also had a set of used Wiseco Pistons & Molnar Rods to which we came to a good deal.
Unfortunately even though he said the engine had done low millage the wrist pins were worn along with the wrist pin bushes in the rod. 🙁
I’ve had the rods re-bushed and ordered a set of Wiseco ‘Tool Steel’ non taper wrist pins.
The block has been faced along with the cylinder head.
The spec so far;
Wiseco +.5mm 9.1:1 (Upgraded Tool Steel wrist pins)
Molnar Rods
ARP Mains Studs
ARP Head Studs
ARP Crank Bolt
ARP Cam Bolts
King Bearings
Crank – Pulley – Gear Keyed
Billet Rear Oil Seal Housing
I will be rebuilding the head and fitting new valve steam seals along with re-lapping the valves in.
I’ve got a few bits coming from Fab9tuning & Dynotronics before I can really crank on but in the mean time I can sort out the cylinder head. 🙂
