I’m fitting a 1JZ.. π
Jokes.. Ha.. I’ve thought about that one too many times. π€·ββοΈ
So what plan am I changing? Well I’ve decided to fit the oil cooler in the rear under the boot pan rather than up the front even after sorting out all the oil lines. *Doh* π€¦ββοΈ
Currently I have a Setrab 19 Row Oil Cooler (which is for sale condition is new – no oil has gone through it at all)
The plan is to fit a 25 Row Setrab Oil Cooler to the rear and fit it horizontal to the boot floor coupled with a T7 Design fan setup (These are very nice quality), roughly 50-60mm away from the boot floor, plus there are 2 removable grommets that line up perfectly with the oil cooler, it’s like it was meant to be.
The fans will be wired to the battery directly through a relay and the Haltech Elite 1500 will control the fans, the idea is to have a generic 2D map using the oil temperature and then I can get the ECU to turn on the fans when it hits a certain temperature. Cool eh?
Now this all sounds quite alot of work, considering the oil system was done.
But…
The reason for doing this is to make the oil lines far simpler and to allow more airflow to the radiator at the front, as the oil cooler is on the scavenging lines it will now have a shorter route to the oil thermostat overall before hitting the drysump tank, as before it went to the thermostat mounted at the front & then to the rear of the car.
As it will be located in the rear this is why I’ve opted for a 25 row as it just won’t see the same amount of air flow, overall it should make a very neat install and you know me, I like things to be simple and efficient.
I’m awaiting for a few fittings from Finish Line Factory before I get it all mounted up.
Let me know what you think in the comments?
I will be including it in a video update also. π±βπ
